Diana "Grande" Zeringue

September 19, 1939 — December 8, 2017

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church for Diana “Grande” Zeringue, 78, who passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017.  The Reverend Gary Schexnayder will officiate the ceremony. The lector will be Elmary Francis, and gift bearers are Antonio Senegal, Lennon Theriot, Remi Theriot, Steven Theriot, Keinan White, and Parker Zeringue.   Soloist for the service is Francis LeBlanc.  Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the funeral mass.

Visitation hours will be observed on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and will resume on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  A rosary will be prayed on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Diana is survived by two daughters, Kim Fuchs and her husband Stephen of Lafayette,  and Lisa Z. Blady of Pensacola, FL;  three sons, Alan Zeringue and his wife Diana L. Zeringue of Breaux Bridge,  Ken Zeringue and his wife Sandra of Lafayette,  and Lyle Zeringue and his wife Marrietta of Lafayette;  two sisters, Donna “Petite” Melancon of Breaux Bridge,  and Gail Ditch and her husband Tom of Breaux Bridge;  eight grandchildren;  five great-grandchildren;  her brother-in-law, Claude Patin of Lafayette;  and her sister-in-law, Barbara Courville Melancon of Breaux Bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norton “Zeke” Zeringue, Jr.;  her parents, Marjorie and Sidney Melancon;  one granddaughter, Brandi Nichol Cormier;  one brother, Ronald “Boze” Melancon;  and one sister-in-law, Pearl Patin.

Diana was a Registered Nurse at Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette for many years until she retired in 1996.  After her husband passed away, she started working at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the community.

In her free time, she enjoyed camping, quilting, playing cards with friends, and spending time with family.

Pallbearers will be Alan Zeringue, Ken Zeringue, Lyle Zeringue, Stephen Fuchs, Steven Theriot, and Antonio Senegal.  Honorary pallbearers are Keinan White and Parker Zeringue.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Diana’s best friend, Delores Gresko, Community Hospice, and her nurse, Karen T. Stelly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Community Group Hospice Care (123 Westmark Blvd. in Lafayette).
