Anne Guidry

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Church (610 Rain Tree Trail at Moss St.) for Anne Catherine Miles Guidry, 78, who passed away January 6. Father David Hebert, pastor, will be the principle celebrant.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Bob; her daughter, Anne-Marie (Sly) and grandchildren Michael, Justin, Kiley, Erin, Jordy, and Amethyst; her son, Joshua (Michelle) and granddaughter Emma; her twin sister Ellen Miles Hughes and her children Anne Tynam (Jim), Kathleen McGrenera (Pat), and John Hughes (Kathi); her brother Vincent Miles and his children Kevin (Regina), Brian (Denise), Sean (Susan), and Sharon Geiselmann (John).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Vincent Miles; in-laws, Rosita Delahoussaye Guidry and Adam Guidry; one sister-in-law, Roseanne Miles; and two brothers-in-law, John P. Hughes and Carl Guidry.
Anne was born in Queens, New York. She attended Bishop McDonnell High School and graduated from Brentwood College. She became a Sister of St. Joseph, serving for 13 years. She continued her education at St. John's University, earning her Master's in Theology. She later moved to Humble, Tex. where she met and married her husband Bob on July 1, 1978.

Anne had a passion for education. Her teaching career spanned 38 years in New York, Maryland, Texas, and Louisiana. After retirement, she spent 20 years on the staff of St. Elizabeth Seton. Her gentle, warm, and welcoming manner brought many closer to the church.

She was a founding member of Family Promise of Acadiana, an interfaith organization helping displaced families get back on their feet.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home, and resume Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Seton from 9:00 am until Mass time. A wake service will take place at 7:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
