Philip Perrodin

September 7, 1929 — June 23, 2018

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Philip Perrodin, 88, who passed away in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, June 23, 2018.  Father Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the services.  Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Visitation hours will be observed on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and resume on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.  A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Philip is survived by three sons, Philip “Eddy” Perrodin, Kenzie R. Perrodin and his wife Barbara, and Alan S. Perrodin and his wife Janet;  one sister, June Perrodin Domengeaux;  ten grandchildren, Curtis James Perrodin, Jr., Corey Perrodin, Christian Perrodin, Cody Perrodin, Jeremy Perrodin, Ross Perrodin and his wife Amanda, Stacey Perrodin, Adele Perrodin, and Regan Perrodin;  and six great-grandchildren, Brianna Perrodin, Joseph Perrodin, Caleb Perrodin, Jack Frederick, Jacque Perrodin, and Andre’ Perrodin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bernadette Hono Perrodin;  one son, Curtis J. Perrodin, Sr.; his parents, Irma Seymour and John Curtis Perrodin; his maternal aunt, Agnes Collette;  and two brothers, John Perrodin and Joseph Perrodin.

Philip served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army.  During his service in Albuquerque, NM he met the woman who would become his loving wife, Mary.  Following his service in the Army, he became a Lieutenant for the Louisiana State Police, where he served for over 20 years before retiring.  It would be in Lafayette where he and Mary would raise their four boys.  He later worked for the City of Lafayette and Alcohol Beverage Control and fully retired in 1990.  He also served as a “mystery shopper” for MM Shops, Inc., but he wasn’t very mysterious because he made friends with the cashiers.

Philip held many titles in his life, but the most important were Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Friend.  He was a lover of all jokes, an avid story teller, enjoyed playing cards, and solving crossword puzzles.  In his earlier days, he enjoyed fishing and woodwork.  He could be best described as a man who never met a stranger and the person you called when you needed a hand.  He was a longtime supporter of St. Genevieve Catholic Church.  He enjoyed spending time with friends and his beloved family.  He will be missed by many, but his sense of humor will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

Pallbearers are Christian Perrodin, Cody Perrodin, Corey Perrodin, Curtis Perrodin, Jeremy Perrodin, and Ross Perrodin.  Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Aucoin, Jr. and Joey Girouard.

Walters Funeral Home, (337) 706-8941, 2424 North University Avenue in Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
