A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, in 4:00 pm service at The Open Door Church located at 1709 Dulles Dr, Lafayette, LA 70506 for Judith Ann Mayers, the former Judith Ann Conner, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Oschner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Born in Corpus Christi, Tx and a resident of Lafayette for 58 years, Judy lived a full life glorifying God through love and service to others. Affectionately referred to as "mom number two", a fairy godmother, and a Mag sister, Judy spent her life caring for any family member or friend in need. Judy was a member of the American Nurses Association, and served her community on the LGMC Critical Care Team and the Cardiac Rehab Team until her retirement at age 68. After retirement, she enjoyed rocking newborn babies, whether they were her grand-babies, babies in the church nursery, or volunteering as a cuddler in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at LGMC. She attended The Open Door Church under the leadership of Pastors Sam Brooks and Jeff Williams.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Joseph D. Mayers, Jr.; daughter, Amy Mayers Parks and husband Reuben; son, Joshua Mayers and wife Holly; grandchildren, Cassidy Herbert and husband Sergei, Sidney Parks and Danielle, Caitlin Parks, Jonathan Mayers, James Mayers, and Catherine Mayers; and her brother, Ned R. Conner and wife Shirley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Anita Conner.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her name to The American Heart Association at 139-B James Comeaux Road, #596, Lafayette, LA 70508, The Open Door Church at 1709 Dulles Dr, Lafayette, LA 70506, or a charitable organization of your choice.
