Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Leo Rene Broussard, 87, who passed away on August 18, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Deacon Ken Soignier will officiate the service. Krystle Smith and Ashley Vidrine will be the lectors; Michael Lattier will deliver the eulogy. Tony Broussard and Kamrin Miguez will provide musical selections. Interment will take place in Gallant Fields, the exclusive veteran's section of Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Monday between the hours of 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home. S.E.C. will lead the rosary at 11:00 am.
Leo is survived by his wife Marjorie Roy Broussard of Maurice; five children, Michelle Lattier and her husband Michael, of Kingsport, Tenn., Yvette Guidroz and her fiancee David Thompson of Lafayette, Nicole Swacker and her fiancee David Dupuis of Crowley, Scotty O. Broussard of Broussard, and Benjaman Broussard of Maurice; one sister, Rose Gauthier of Lafayette; thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Paul Broussard; grandson, Tyler Guidroz; two brothers, Pat Broussard and Sidney Broussard; two sisters, Aline Mouton and Jeanne Martinez; and one son-in-law, Perry Guidroz.
Leo was a native of Maurice and longtime resident of Lafayette. He moved back to Maurice in 1995. He was a member of the United States Air Force, the Red Coats of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL), and the Knights of Columbus.
Leo was a bank officer for over 50 years.
Pallbearers for the service will be Drew Lattier, Travis Guidroz, Blake Lattier, John Thomas Swacker, Nicholas Swacker, Luke Swacker, Avery Stutes, and Hayden Stutes.
