Alfred "Al" Chiasson

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Alfred “Al” Elie Chiasson, who passed away on April 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.

He was a most loving husband, survived by his wife of 70 years, Norma Jean Chiasson; his brother-in-law, Olen Gary and friend Reba Plaisance; nephews, Timothy and Troy Gary; and niece Tina Gary, along with twenty-three grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lily Chiasson.

Al was a native of Rayne and resided in Scott. He served in the United States Army. His love for the Lord showed through his kindness to everyone. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving the rank of Fourth Degree. He was a proud insurance representative, Sears salesman, and a hearing aid technician. In his free time he and Jean enjoyed camping in their Airstream trailer on weekends and holidays. He loved hunting and fishing, especially with his buddy Wilson Prejean, and bowling with his Knights of Columbus teammates.

The family extends its thanks for the unwavering LOVE, affection, and care from friends and neighbors; and its heartfelt appreciation to Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center’s doctors and nurses, HOPE Healthcare and Hospice, particularly his nurse Nicole Deaville, and his caregivers Gwen Benoit, Kelly and Marci Canulate.
