Alice Guidry

September 11, 1942 — May 25, 2015

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Alice Tauzin Guidry, 72, who passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015.   The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.  Lectors will be Toni Dueitt and Anna Tauzin. Gift bearers will be Ali Robin and Grace Tauzin.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Roland Guidry of Lafayette;  three daughters, Paula Guidry Hidalgo and her husband David of Sunset, Kristi Guidry Williams and her husband Mike of Breaux Bridge, and Amy Guidry Venable and her husband Lonny of Lafayette;  two grandchildren, Blake Guidry of Baton Rouge and Jacob Hidalgo of Sunset;  two sisters, Norma Lee Tauzin Olivier of Arnaudville, and Mabel Tauzin Freeman and her husband Baron of Lafayette;  three brothers, Eldrick “Tee” Tauzin of Lafayette, Lloyd “Boy” Tauzin and his companion Barbara of Breaux Bridge, and Nolan Tauzin and his wife Audrey of Rayne;  one mother-in-law, Ann Dore’ Guidry;  one sister-in-law, Grace Tauzin; and two brothers-in-law, Ernest Guidry and his wife Gladys, and Johnny Guidry and his wife Pam.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alibie Tauzin and the former Felicianne Champagne;  four brothers, Lucien Tauzin, Wilfred “Boyo” Tauzin, Norman “Nanu” Tauzin, and Alibie “June” Tauzin;  one father-in-law, Lucien Guidry;  four sisters-in-law, Geraldine Tauzin, Hallie Tauzin, Judy Tauzin, and Georgia Tauzin;  one brother-in-law, Clevance Olivier, and many nieces and nephews.

Alice was a member of both the Lafayette and Breaux Bridge VFC Clubs.  She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed traveling, shopping, and having lunch with friends.  In her free time, she helped the Diocese of Lafayette by making rosaries.

Visitation will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jason Freeman, Blake Guidry, David Hidalgo, Jacob Hidalgo, Eldrick Tauzin, Lloyd Tauzin, Nolan Tauzin, and Lonny Venable.  Honorary pallbearer is Mike Williams.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to St. Joseph’s Hospice,  1003 Hugh Wallis Road S, #F3,  Lafayette, LA,  70508.
