Allen Harrington saw himself as the reincarnation of Rowdy Yates in "Rawhide," James West in "The Wild, Wild West," Bret Maverick in "Maverick." He was Eddie Felson (Paul Newman) in "The Hustler" and Audie Murphy in every one of his movies. He held conventional thinking in contempt and had total disregard for any rule that tumbled along his path. His biggest regret in life was that he didn't get to attend Woodstock. However, throughout his journey he loved and was loved. He passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 26, 2025.
He is survived by his sister, Janeth Harrington; brother, Msgr. Russell Harrington; sister-in-law, Merlie Harrington; former sister-in-law, Nellie Hunter; godmother, Jo Anne LeBlanc; two godchildren, Jonas Harrington (Tonia) and Christie Harrington (Melody); five nieces, Lauri Harrington, Deidre Credeur (Paul), Amy Harrington, Brandy Harrington, and Nicole Guillory (Richard); great-nieces and nephews, Hunter, Holden, Ashleigh, Georgia, and Della; and his dearest friend Ruthy "Country" Miller and her family, especially her grandsons Hayden and Hunter.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, the former Zula Miers and Hilton Harrington; four brothers, Melvin, Gerald, Albert, and Walter; one niece, Angela Harrington; and one nephew, Joshua Harrington.
Allen's family would like to thank all his relatives and friends who visited and supported him throughout this final part of his journey. Many thanks to the Oschner Oncology Center in Crowley, Dr. Nancy Walker, the Hospice of Acadiana nursing community, and the entire staff of Courtyard Manor Nursing Home.
