Curtis G. Henderson passed away peacefully after a brief and unexpected illness on Sunday, February 8, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Alexandria, LA, June 25, 1941, and was raised in Beaumont, TX. There he graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Marketing and Business. The majority of his professional career was spent in Houston, TX as a Commercial Real Estate Broker with CB Richard Ellis. He retired to Lafayette, LA in 2011.
Curtis and his loving wife, Lorna A. Henderson, have been married for 46 years. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sloan and Kevin Leger and grandsons Hunter and Jake, all of Dripping Springs, TX. He will be missed by sisters-in-law Jan Henderson of New Braunfels, TX, Chrystal Abhalter and husband Bob of Kenosha, WI; nieces Jill Ritter (Austin, TX), Julie Parks (New Braunfels, TX), Kristin Abhalter Smith (Chicago, IL) and nephew Christopher Henderson (Round Rock, TX). Last but not least, his loyal fur buddy, Rhett Butler, will miss him dearly.
Curtis was an avid student of world and political history and viewed himself as an amateur historian. Football season was his best time of the year as he loved professional and college football. Other interests included vintage automobiles and building WWII aircraft models. Ever a “foodie,” he and his wife enjoyed culinary adventures at home, around the US and abroad. His quick wit, sense of humor and joie de vivre will be missed by family, friends and anyone that he met.
His is preceded in death by his parents Geneva and James Albert Henderson and his two brothers James Albert Henderson and Robert Larkin Henderson.
