A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Denise Derouen, 52, who passed away on May 4, 2014. Father Brian Taylor, pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will celebrate the mass and conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Bonnie Bergeron and Lisa Riche; giftbearers, Peggy Leger and Arlene Theriot. Musicians Phyllis Simar and Ron Moreau will perform, "Amazing Grace", "Isaiah 49", "Old Rugged Cross", "Take My Hand, Precious Lord", and "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Denise is survived by her husband Ricky Derouen of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Katie Lynn Derouen of Breaux Bridge; one step-son, Kristopher Lee Derouen of Arnaudville; her father, Paul A. Carriere of Lafayette; two sisters, Marie C. Theriot and her husband Tommy of Breaux Bridge and Peggy C. Leger and her husband Ronald of Carencro; three brothers, Paul Wayne Carriere and his wife Patsy of Port Barre, James Michael Carriere and his wife Gerrie of Carencro, and Lawrence Allen Carriere and his wife Dane of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Merle Stelly Carriere.
Pallbearers for the service will be Danny Theriot, Lawrence Carriere, Kristopher Derouen, Mike Carriere, Paul Carriere and Dane Carriere. Honorary pallbearers are Chad Theriot, Blake Theriot and Cody Bourque.
The family requests that visitation be held at Walters Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 6, from 3:00-9:00 pm, and resume Wednesday morning at 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be led by Deacon Jay Bergeron on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.
