Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 1:00 pm in Gallant Fields of Greenlawn Memorial Gardens for Dennis Keith Kimball, 65, who passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his residence.
Visitation will be held at Walters Funeral Home on Saturday between the hours of 10:00 am and 12:45 pm.
Dennis was born on September 7, 1960 in New Roads, Louisiana to Raymond and Maxine Kimball. He was raised in Morganza, Louisiana and graduated from Morganza High School in 1978. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1978-1982. During this time, he worked overseas in Japan and the Philippines as a law enforcement specialist and patrol dog trainer. From 1982-1985 he served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. After his military years, he devoted the remainder of his career to law enforcement and prison security, work that required discipline, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Beyond his professional life, he found purpose in helping others as a dedicated Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor offering guidance, compassion, and steady support to those seeking sobriety. He also loved history and politics, enjoyed old music, especially Elvis and Jim Croce, and was a sports enthusiast.
The life role he was most proud of was being a father and grandfather. He enjoyed quality time with his family and was a constant loving figure in their lives. He will be missed by his family, friends, and comrades.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Elissa Kimball Hebert and her husband, Chad Hebert and their children Caleb and Olivia Hebert, all of Lafayette; his former wife and longtime friend, Josephine Thibodeaux and her husband, Markus Thibodeaux of Rayne; three sisters, Kathleen Dickerson of Baton Rouge, Kristine Joubert of Eunice, and Donna Kimball of Lafayette; and two brothers, Douglas Kimball of New Orleans and Daniel Kimball of Morganza; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Maxine Kimball; and his older brother, Patrick Kimball.
Serving as pallbearers are Chad Hebert, Caleb Hebert, Markus Thibodeaux, Cameron Briley, and Mike Rubio.
The family would like to thank the dedicated healthcare providers who showed him kindness, respect, and compassionate care.
