Edward Carl Conti, Jr., 82, passed away on July 24, 2026 at 1:10 pm with his loving wife by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11:00 am at Maria Immaculata Catholic Church in Houma. (246 Corporate Drive, Houma, LA 70360). Reverend Joseph Pilola, pastor of Maria Immaculata, will celebrate the funeral Mass and conduct the funeral services. Errol Bourgeois, musician and vocalist, will perform the musical selections for the Mass. Inurnment will follow the Mass in St. Francis II Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at church beginning at 10:00 am until the time of service.

Edward was a native of Richmond, VA, a long time resident of Houma, LA, and current resident of Sunset, LA. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. Ed was a professional driver. He drove for Continental Trailways, Halliburton, Hotard Coaches, Universal Coaches, Saia Motor Freight, and Dupre Transport. He retired from Dupre Transport in 2007. He enjoyed his years on the road touring across the United States and Canada with his wife Cheryl by his side on many of those trips.

Ed will be remembered as living a life of service. He was part of the Selective Service System and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 141, where he served as secretary for many years. He was a devout Roman Catholic and was very involved in his church parishes, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at both Maria Immaculata Church in Houma, LA and Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Opelousas, LA. He also served as a Mass coordinator at Maria Immaculata. His memory will be cherished by family and friends alike.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Cheryl Waguespack Conti; two sisters, Sherian Biggerstaff of Richmond, VA, and Dianne Vanko and her husband Doug Salvia of North Chesterfield, VA; sister-in-law, Donna W. LeBoeuf; a host of nieces and nephews, Stacy Biggerstaff Stutzman and her husband Todd, Taryn Biggerstaff Bollinder and her husband Bill, Chad LeBoeuf and his wife Paula, and Lauren Lovoi and her husband Frank; and many loving great-nieces and nephews, especially his most tender love for Luca and Hayes Lovoi. He is also survived by a daughter and a son.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie H. Vanko and step-father, Johnnie E. Vanko; his father, Edward C. Conti; and his parents-in-law, Lena and Lawrence "Bill" Waguespack.

Special thanks are extended to Kinder Retirement & Rehabilitation Center and Brighten Bridge Hospice for the love and compassionate care provided to Ed in his last year of life.
