Harvey Arceneaux

Harvey Arceneaux, 72, of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away on November 2, 2025, following a courageous twenty-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott. Msgr. Ronald Broussard will officiate the ceremony. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette.

Visitation hours will be observed on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

Born on July 2, 1953, to Paul Ashton Arceneaux and Rosella Cormier Arceneaux, Harvey grew up in the heart of Lafayette. He met his beloved wife, Polly Dugas, while they were still in high school, and the two were married in 1976. Their marriage, spanning forty-nine years, was marked by deep love, unwavering devotion, and the shared joy of raising two children, Candace Landry Arceneaux and André Jason Arceneaux.

Harvey’s professional journey reflected both his intellect and determination. During the 1970s and early 1980s, he served as General Manager for Popeye’s and Pizza Hut, where he built lasting relationships and established a reputation for leadership and integrity. His success and dedication led him to Humana Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, where he continued to advance his career and form lifelong friendships.

Upon retiring from Humana in 1988, Harvey and his family returned home to Lafayette, where he embraced his passions for automobiles, fishing, and hunting. Known for his wit, wisdom, and sharp reasoning, Harvey often referred to himself as a “prisoner of logic.” He was respected for his candor and admired for his ability to offer sound guidance rooted in both honesty and compassion. Above all, he was devoted to his family and instilled in his children the values of integrity, diligence, and kindness.

Harvey is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Polly Dugas Arceneaux; his children, Candace Arceneaux Landry (Jason) of Lafayette and André Jason Arceneaux (Amanda) of Bentonville, Arkansas; and his “adopted” daughter, Wendy Fobb Mathis (Jay) of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Vivian Melancon Dugas; sister-in-law, Wendy Dugas Hossley (Henry); and brother-in-law, Randall Dugas (Brenda). He leaves behind five cherished grandsons—Ayden, Jordan, Oz, Beylor, and Zeke—as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashton and Rosella Arceneaux; his father-in-law, Rogers Dugas; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Harvey’s legacy of love, humor, and integrity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be André Arceneaux, Ayden Arceneaux, Jordan Arceneaux, Jason Landry, Terry Jeffrey, Samuel Harris, Nylan Hossley, and Ryan Dugas. Honorary pallbearers are Oz Arceneaux, Zeke Arceneaux, Beylor Landry, Kendall Noel, Nicholas Glenn, Randy Dugas, Henry Hossley, Travis Williams, and Tedarrius Aych.

The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone who reached out to them over the last several months with phone calls and messages of love and support. They would also especially like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at St. Joseph Hospice and the Carpenter House, who went above and beyond in taking special care of their family during this time.
