Howard Varnado

Howard Varnado, age 77, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Sunday, April 7, 2024.  Isn’t it fitting that “Brother Howard” transitioned from earth to heaven on a Sunday, his favorite day of the week!

Funeral services will be held in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.  Russell Cobb, Pastor of Word of Grace Church in Pineville, LA, will lead the service.  

Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Howard was born on May 21, 1946, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Adrain Lee and Ola Lea Varnado. Howard graduated class of ‘64 from Bolton High School and earned a BA in Secondary Education from Louisiana College in ‘68.

Howard spent his life faithfully serving his Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, as a missionary, church planter, Bible teacher, evangelist, and trusted counselor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Becky; his children, Jesse (Kelly) Varnado, Tamara Emerson, and Paul (Elizabeth) Varnado; his grandchildren Abel Varnado, Elias Varnado, Wells Ohman, Ruby Varnado, Asher Varnado, Poppy Ohman, and Miles Varnado. He is also survived by his sister Ann Windborn, in-laws Jim and Karen Blackburn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Adrain Varnado Jr, and his infant daughter Hannah Grace Varnado.
