A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Leo The Great Church for Joyce A. Locklear, 87, who passed away January 17, 2026 at the Calcutta House. Father Kyle White, grandson of Ms. Locklear and pastor of St. Leo The Great Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. JoLynn Dean, Beth Dean, and Emily Babin will be the lectors for the Mass. Serving as gift bearers are Bailey Babin, Caroline White, and Claire White. Rafael Henry, organist and soloist will provide musical selections. Interment will follow the Mass in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, James Franklin (Beth) Dean Jr. and William "David" (Jo Lynn) Dean; one step-daughter, Michelle (Michael) Henderson; one step-daughter-in-law, Angie Locklear; six grandchildren, Emily Babin, Katelyn Dean, Thomas Dean, Fr. Kyle White, Eric Locklear, and Justin Locklear; and four great-grandchildren, Bailey Babin, Sam Locklear, Olive Locklear, and James Locklear.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, James F. Dean; second husband, Danny Locklear; step-son, Rickey Locklear; parents, William David Finch and Ruth Appleton Finch; sister, Barbara Ruth Broome; and brother, William "Little Bill" Finch Jr.

Joyce was born and reared in Chattanooga, TN. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for many years. Most recently, she resided in Lafayette for the past fifteen years. She was full of life; she enjoyed playing pokeno and bingo with her friends, cheering on the University of Alabama football team, and being with her family. She was a devout member of St. Leo The Great Church, and will be missed by friends and family alike.

Pallbearers for the service will be James Dean Jr., David Dean, Thomas Dean, Mark Babin, Bradley Broome, Johnny Dean, and Michael Henderson. Honorary pallbearers include Eric Locklear, Justin Locklear, Danny Williams, Travis White, Jake White, and Bart White.

The family requests that visitation be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, and resume Friday morning at 8:00 am - 9:30 am at Walters Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.

The family extends their special thanks to the medical staff and team at Calcutta House for the loving care they gave Joyce in her final days.
