Joyce S. Veillon

On this 4th day of March, 2026, Joyce S. Veillon passed away peacefully after a brief illness at her home surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene Veillon of Lafayette; two sons, Duane Veillon of Lafayette, and Brian Veillon and his wife Tammy of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Nichole Veillon of Austin, TX, Ashley Veillon and her fiancé Skylar Long of Lafayette, Sarah Bex and her husband Logan Bex of Lafayette, and Andrew J. Veillon and his fiancé Sydney Bailey of Lafayette; and two great-grandchildren, Walker Bex and Wesley Bex of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aldes and Lorena Smith; and two brothers, Roderick and Reinel Smith.

Her interests were gardening, needle stitching, and being surrounded by her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored, especially cooking for them.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home. Deacon Randy Hyde will officiate the funeral ceremony. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and will resume on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Duane Veillon, Brian Veillon, Andrew Veillon, Logan Bex, Skylar Long, and Kevin Dore.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Tyler Bellelo and the Nurses and Staff at Heart of Hospice for all of their support.
