Leonard "Poncho" Frederick

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Leonard "Poncho" Frederick, 75, who passed away June 20, 2024. Monsignor Russell Harrington will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Twiley Yorke and Wendy Broussard. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will perform, "Here I Am, Lord", "Shepherd Me, O God", "I Can Only Imagine", "How Great Thou Art", and "On Eagle's Wings". Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Frederick of Lafayette; one son, Patrick (Christine) Frederick of Flagler Beach, FL; two sisters, Yvonne Baudoin of Lake Martin and Shirley (Willis) Delhomme of Breaux Bridge; and three grandchildren, Taylor White, Mitchell Sanford, and Novalyn Sanford. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Marie and Sidney John Frederick Sr.; and siblings, Douglas Marcel Frederick, Sidney John Frederick Jr., and Barbara F. Beadle.

Leonard was a native of Abbeville and resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He worked for Flemings Foods for 45 years and was an avid LSU baseball fan. 

Pallbearers will be Russell Romero, Willis Delhomme, Lynn Broussard, Allen DuBois, Doug Frederick II, Clayton "Chuck" Beadle, and Danny Guidry. 

The family requests that visitation be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4:00 - 9:00 pm, resuming Saturday morning at 8:00 am until service time. A rosary will be led by Sr. Doris Roy, S.E.C. at 7:00 pm Friday evening.
