Lloyd Dugas

LAFAYETTE – A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Lloyd Dugas, who passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018.  The Reverend Gary Schexnayder will officiate the ceremony.  Organist and soloist will be Jodi Bollich.  Interment will take place at Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lurline Breaux Dugas of Lafayette; one daughter, Rebecca Courville (Fred) of Lafayette; two brothers, LeRoy Dugas and Louis Dugas, both of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Skye Courville of Lafayette and Joey Courville (Marisa) of Leonville; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylin Courville, Rayo Courville and Leola Courville.

Mr. Dugas was preceded in death by his parents, Rene Dugas of Scott, and the former Ezola Babineaux of Lafayette Parish.

A native of Scott and a resident of Lafayette for most of  his life, Mr. Dugas was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Navy.  He was an avid fisherman and also loved to hunt.  He belonged to the St. Genevieve Usher Society and was a 29 year employee of the U.S. Postal Service.

Pallbearers will be Skye Courville, Joey Courville, Fred Courville, Richard Dugas, Todd Dugas and Blake Breaux.

Visitation hours be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Walters Funeral Home.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Shakira Williams for all the help and compassion given to Lloyd during his illness.
