A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Lou Ella Gauthier, 82, who passed away peacefully November 9, 2012 at her residence. Father Brian Taylor, pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will say the mass and conduct the funeral services. Phyllis Simar, organist and Ron Moreau, soloist, will perform "Old Rugged Cross," "Ave Maria," "Amazing Grace," and "How Great Thou Art." Patricia Delcambre will be the lector and Mrs. Gauthier's two daughters, Michele Guidry and Yvette Gauthier Burridge will be the gift bearers. Interment will be held in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Survivors include her husband Paul Arcade Gauthier of Lafayette; two daughters, Michele Gauthier Guidry of Carencro and Yvette Gauthier Burridge of Lafayette; one son, Paul Mott Gauthier and his wife Charlotte of Rayne; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the former Allie Faulk and Cenua Jean Mire; one daughter, Paulette Boyett; one grandson, David Burridge; and one brother, Donald Ray Mire.
Lou was a native of Crowley and resident of Lafayette for the past 60 years. She was the past director of St. Joseph's Diner.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Alleman, John David Guidry, Shawn Burridge, Seth Gauthier, Bobby Houston, and Randy Best. Honorary pallbearers include Derek Mire, and Jeffery Mire.
The family requests that visitation be held from 9:00 am until time of service on Tuesday, November 13. A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 11:00 am.
