A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:30 am in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church for Lucille "Nan Lou" Mouton, 90, who passed away April 29, 2025 at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital. Father Peter Emusa, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Chastity James, musician and vocalist, will perform, "I Can Only Imagine", "Goodness of God", "Troubles of the World", and "Take Me to the King". Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Tracy (Pat) Lewis and Donald Lee Mouton; one sister, Doris Simon; three brothers, Russell (Jessie) Roberts, Clarence (Edolia) Roberts, and Eluse (Barbara) Roberts, Jr.; nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Eluse Roberts; her son, Francis Carl Mouton; her ex-husband and the father of her children, Russell Mouton; and one brother, John Roberts.
Nan Lou was born in Cecilia and most recently lived in Lafayette. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people, and was employed at Truman Early Childhood Education Center as a cafeteria lady for some years. She also worked as a teacher in the Head Start program. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Home Interiors and Gifts as a salesperson for 30 years. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
Pallbearers will be Martel Mouton, Tedrick Mouton, Dustin Lewis, Chadwick Mouton, Troy Roberts, and Brodrick Mouton. Honorary pallbearers include Donald Lee Mouton, Clarence Roberts, Russell Roberts, Patrick Lewis, and E.J. Roberts.
The family requests that visitation be held Friday, May 2, 2025 between the hours of 8:00 am - 10:00 am at Walters Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am.
