A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:00 am in  Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church for Mary Dolores Sampy, 65, who passed away August 24, 2015. Monsignor Ronald Broussard, pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption, will be the Celebrant of the funeral mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Eric Bradley/Kenya Carter, Amanda Lopez, and Romalee Henry; giftbearers, Jazzmine Guidry, Elijah Bradley and Monica Roy. A eulogy will be delivered by Brandon Shelvin, Sr. Interment will follow mass in Evangeline Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include husband, Leroy Sampy of Carencro; two daughters, Justine (Brandon) of Lafayette and Jameah (Anthony) of Scott; two sons, James Calvin (Delores) of Carencro and Joseph Leroy Jr. (Tasha) of Breaux Bridge; four sisters, Bernadette Ann Blair (Willie Rufus) of Missouri City Tex., Norma Jane Henry of Sunset, Willie Mae Harris (Rev. Randall) of Houston, and Priscilla Marie Carter (Harold) of Cankton; seven brothers, Joseph Gerold Henry (Elsie) of Atlanta Ga., Harold Martin Henry (Eva) of Church Point, Johnny Henry (Elizabeth) of Lafayette, Alvin Charles Henry of Sugarland, Tex., Larry Paul Henry (Abbie) of Spring, Tex., Wilson David Henry (Karen) of Houston, and Nelson Norman Henry (Judy) of Sunset; 27 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia and Joseph Henry; two brothers, Edward James Henry and Marvin Chris Henry; and two grandchildren, Cleveland Joseph Guidry, III and Anthony Lorenzo Roy.
Mary was a native of Sunset and resident of Carencro for most of her life. She was heavily involved in her church parish, Our Lady of the Assumption in Carencro, where she served on the Parish Council and was a Junior Daughter of Our Lady of Assumption Court #269. She was also a  member of  the Ladies of Grace St. Paul Chapter #3 and the Fourth Degree Ladies' Auxiliary. She worked in the medical records department at River Oaks Retirement Manor for 41 years.
Pallbearers will be Larry Henry, Harold Henry, Wilson Henry, Nelson Henry, Charles Henry, and Johnny Henry. Honorary pallbearers include Gerald Henry, David Henry, Roy Angelle, John Calvin Henry, Bryant Henry, Devon Skipper, Harold Lee Carter, Johnny Living, Randall Harris, Anthony Roy, Brandon Shelvin and Allen Sampy.
The family requests that visitation be held at Walters Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5:00 - 10:00 pm, and resume Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 7:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be led by the Third Degree and the Fourth Degree Ladies' Auxiliary Friday evening at 7:00 pm, followed by a tribute dance performed by Tip Tap Toe School of Dance.
Following the burial, the repast will be held at Trynd Downtown, 116 E. Vermilion St., Lafayette, LA 70501.
