A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Mary Helen "MeMaw" Granger, 82, who passed away July 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Father Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will perform . Interment will follow the mass in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Jimmy) Rogers of Lafayette and Terrl (Jerry) Arceneaux of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Brandi (Kyle) Degeyter, Brandon (Renee) Arceneaux, Cynthia (Robert) Summers, and James (Amy) Rogers, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Degeyter, Kenzie Degeyter, Ryan Degeyter, Randi Arceneaux, Jensynne Summers, Kaitlyn Summers, Hayleigh Summers, Joshua Summers, James Rogers, III, and Heidi Rogers; and one great grandson, Revan Piazza.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avous Granger; her son, Randy Granger; her parents, Philosia and Thomas Oren Benoit; and two brothers, Paul and Nelson Benoit.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was the owner/ operator of the Qwik Serve Grocery. In her free time, she enjoyed visiting with her "coffee group", which included Savannah Fabacher, Becky Prejean, Rita Domingue, and Marie Hymbaugh.
Pallbearers will be James Rogers Jr., Jimmy Rogers, Jerry Arceneaux, Brandon Arceneaux, Kyle Degeyter, and Steve Fournier. Honorary pallbearer is Barry Granger.
The family requests that visitation be held Sunday, July 19, 2015, 9:00 am - 10:00 pm and resume Monday, July 20, 2015, 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm Sunday evening.
