A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Maxime Grossie, Jr., 85, who passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Father Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the funeral ceremony. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Calvary Cemetery.
Maxime is survived by his wife, Marie Grossie; five daughters, Velma Trahan and her companion Gordon Romero of Milton, Judy Miller and her husband Larry of Sunset, Charlene Louviere and her husband Larry of Breaux Bridge, Priscilla Boyer and her husband C.J. of Parks, and Carleen Melancon of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Merlin Grossie and his wife Ronda of Butte La Rose, David Grossie of Lafayette, and Dwayne Grossie and his wife Anita of Lafayette; two sisters, Melissa Angelle of Cecilia, and Della Gallet of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corrine and Maxime Grossie, Sr; one son, Charles Ray Grossie; one sister, Marie Louise Broussard; four brothers, Gaston, Paul, Frank, and Wilfred Grossie; and two sons-in-law, Johnny Trahan and Frank Melancon.
A native of Austria, Mr. Grossie has been a resident of Lafayette for most of his life.
Visitation hours will be observed on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. by Mr. Brady LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Dallas Grossie, Bryan Trahan, Travis Boyer, Jared Miller, Josh Louviere, and Nicholas Louviere. Honorary pallbearers are Merlin Grossie, David Grossie, and Dwayne Grossie.
