Patsy McCord

May 31, 1934 — March 23, 2024

Lafayette

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church  for Patricia Ruth "Patsy" Glover McCord, who passed away on March 23, 2024. Pastor Steve Horn will officiate the service. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until time of service. A reception will be held afterwards in the church hall.

Patsy was born May 31, 1934 to Raymond Platt and Valma Shepherd Glover in Mansfield, LA. Being part of a family in the oil business, Patsy moved often and attended several schools before her family settled in Lafayette. She graduated from Lafayette High School, attended SLI, University of Colorado, and ultimately graduated from The University of Texas in Austin.

Patsy met Jack Quintus McCord in Houston where she was working for the Texas Company. They moved to Lafayette and raised their three children, Susan, Quint, and Randy.

Patsy was always involved in community organizations which included The Junior League of Lafayette, Friends of the Humanities, Friends of Music, Acadiana Symphony, Women’s League, L’Avenir and the Lafayette Public Library Board among others. She was a member of First Baptist Church and served in many capacities throughout the years. She loved her church and the ladies in her Sunday School class.

Patsy looked forward to her regular tennis game every Monday morning until she and her tennis friends decided it was time to give it up.

A time came when Patsy decided she wanted to go back to work so she got her real estate license and became a residential realtor. She started out with June Welch Real Estate but
spent the last 25 years of her career with Van Eaton & Romero. She enjoyed being with people and helping them buy and sell their homes. When she reached the age of 80, she retired.

Patsy’s family that she leaves behind include her husband, Jack Quintus McCord; daughter Susan McCord of Evergreen, CO; son John Quintus "Quint" McCord and his wife, Myrna Lasseigne McCord; granddaughter Madison Marie McCord, grandson Mason Randall Gillard; step-son Jack MacDowell (Michelle); step-grandson Jackie MacDowell (Cassie); and step great-granddaughters Bliss and Brynn MacDowell.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her son Randall Glover McCord; brother Dr. Bobby Ray Glover; and sister Jeanette Griffin.

Very special thanks are given to Patsy's friend Betsy Wild for her companionship, compassion, and care given.
