Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Robert "Dan" DeRouen Sr., 93, who passed away December 6, 2025 at his residence in Lafayette. Father David Hebert, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, will conduct the funeral services. Kennedy Ann DeRouen and Gunnar DeRouen will serve as lectors for the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include his two sons, Robert (Sandra) De Rouen, Jr. of Breaux Bridge, and Dean (Nancy) DeRouen of Maurice; eight grandchildren, Shawn Fontenot, Joseph DeRouen, Jesse DeRouen, Amanda Comeaux, Kristine Argenbright, Meghan Borne, April Milam, and Sadie Broussard; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae DeRouen; parents, Enola and P.J. DeRouen; and sister, Ethell Hanes.
Dan was a native of New Iberia and resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was a member of the United States Army, and worked as a mechanic with the City of Lafayette for 27 years. His family and friends will remember him fondly.
Pallbearers will be Robert De Rouen Jr., Dean DeRouen, Joseph DeRouen, Brandon Milam, Trayton Broussard, and Jesse DeRouen. Honorary pallbearers include Lucas Milam, Easton Broussard, and Gunnar DeRouen.
The family requests that visitation be held Thursday, December 11, 2025 between the hours of 2:00 - 8:00 pm, and resume Friday morning at 8:00 am until service time. A rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at 6:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home.
