Robert "Bob" Carlon

March 28, 1942 — February 2, 2016

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. for Robert “Bob” Carlon at the Bayou Church, 2234 Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette.  He was born on March 28, 1942 in New Jersey, and passed away peacefully at Lafayette General Medical Center on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eleanor Carlon;  one brother, John Phillip Carlon;  and one son, Bill Carlon, whom he tragically lost last July.
He attended high school at Rutgers Preparatory School, and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in General Business.  He always loved animals and spending time with the horses and dogs that he owned.  He was a Boy Scout Leader, and was also an accomplished sailor.  He loved Hobie Cat racing, and in his later years he was score keeper for the Louisiana Ice Gators.
Bob served in the Air Force, and was stationed in Germany.  He returned to Lafayette and considered Lafayette his home, although he traveled a great deal throughout his life.  Bob became well known in Lafayette when he opened Bob’s Pub.  He was very proud to have an Irish pub, especially since he had Irish bloodlines.  He was also very generous, supporting many charities throughout the United States.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name to his son’s favorite organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, at www.acadianabigs.com/support.
