Lafayette

Ronald Paul Domingue passed away on September 5, 2023, at Calcutta House. A Celebration of Life will be held at Pop's Poboys on Monday, September 18th from 4-6 p.m.

Ron was born in Lafayette to Irene Hayes and Lucas Domingue Jr. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965, followed by the University of Notre Dame in 1971. He was the CEO of VMSI, a family business, from 1980 to 2013 when he retired.

As a member of the Self Realization Fellowship, he recognized the divinity in all souls. His spiritual practice grounded him, and he was always ready for a friendly chat about the mysteries of existence.

A talented bassist, Ron was a member of several bands and continued to enjoy playing in his later years. He loved the outdoors, whether on the golf course, riding his motorcycle, or cruising in his boat.

As a proud member of AA, he celebrated his sobriety and helped many find serenity. Ron had the gift of gab, coupled with his intelligence, which made him incredibly easy to talk to. A visit with him was never complete without a good laugh.

Ron is preceded in death by both of his parents, his older brother Richard James, and younger brother Gregory Martin. He is survived by his two sons, Nathan and Thomas; his sister, Diane, and her husband, John; his brother, Mark, and his wife, Marilyn; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn. Ron was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews - Poppy, Chantelle, Lucas, Courtney, Stephanie, Thomas, Sam, Lisa, and Nicole. His presence will be greatly missed.

In the final months, Hospice of Acadiana extended exceptional care and support, ensuring Ron’s comfort and providing assistance to him and his two sons. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to this wonderful organization
