Shirley Leger

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Shirley A. Leger, 57, who passed away peacefully September 9, 2013 at Evangeline Oaks Guest House. Father Mario Romero, associate pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will perform, "Amazing Grace," "His Eye Is On The Sparrow," "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," and "Here I Am, Lord." Lectors and giftbearers will be Janie Myers and Brandy Leger. Interment will follow the mass in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott.
She is survived by her parents, the former Belle Thibodeaux and Joachin Leger of Lafayette; four brothers, Ronald James Leger of Cecilia, Michael Wayne Leger of Lafayette, Tommy Joseph Leger of Arnaudville, and Douglas Paul Leger of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Esther and Cyrus Leger; and  her maternal grandparents, Easton and Eve Thibodeaux.
Shirley was a native of Church Point and lived in Lafayette for most of her life. She retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board after 30 years of service.
Pallbearers will be Briley Leger, Brandy Leger, Ronald Leger, Michael Leger, Tommy Leger, and Douglas Leger
The family requests that visitation be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 1:00-9:00 pm, and resume Wednesday morning at 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be led by Deacon Jay Bergeron at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening.
