Virginia Pomier

July 25, 1936 — February 22, 2014

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 2:00 pm in the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church of Duson for Virginia A. "Mrs. V." Pomier, who passed away February 22, 2014 at her residence in Scott. She was 77 years old. Father Allen Breaux, associate pastor of St. Theresa, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include five daughters, Constance Pomier of Scott, Cynthia Ogle of Scott, Linda Olivier of Lafayette, Cheryl Robicheaux and her husband Duffy of Breaux Bridge, and Tracie Hunter and her husband Clay of Picayune, Miss.; one son, John "Tony" Pomier and his partner Joey Leger of Duson; one sister, Hazel Weathers of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Harry Guidry of Youngsville; 15 grandchildren, Shane Pomier, Gini Quiroz, Michael Turki, Atikus Turki, Robert Pomier, Johnny Pomier, Steve Olivier, Cheli Breaux, Courtni Robicheaux, Crystal Black, Lindsey Paige Black, Derek Pomier, Andre' Langley, Kaila Hunter, and Ross Pomier; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Pomier; her son, Michael Pomier, her parents, Blanche Guidry and Andre' Alleman; two grandsons, Nicholas Olivier and Samuel Robicheaux; two sisters, Pearl Mire and Yolande Trahan; one brother, Alfred "Red" Alleman; and three sons-in-law, Porky Fontenot, Keith Ogle, and William Olivier.
A resident of Scott, Mrs. V. was a member of  the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW #9822 and a longtime employee of Early's Supermarket. In her free time she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shane, Johnny and Ross Pommier; Atikus and Michael Turki; Louis Duplechain, Steve Olivier, and Andre' Langley. John Pomier will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family requests that visitation be observed Monday, February 24, 2014 from 1:00-10:00 pm, and resume Tuesday morning at 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be led by Father Mike Bergeron at 6:30 pm on Monday evening.
