Wayne Paul Lanerie

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Wayne Paul Lanerie, 64, who passed away July 13, 2025. Pastor Chad Thibodeaux of Vatican Baptist Church will conduct the funeral services.

Visitation will be held Thursday between the hours of 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at Walters Funeral Home.

Survivors include his children, Justin P. (Felicia) Lanerie of Rayne, LA and Crystal L. Savoy of Lafayette; three sisters, Janet Richard of Greensboro, NC, Karen Lynn Hollier of Cankton, LA and Mary LaBorde of Flowery Branch, GA; eight grandchildren, Kentara Wilridge, Jazmine Lanerie, Kentasha Wilridge, Kentrelle Wilridge, Justin Lanerie Jr., Kendarious Wilridge, Donaisha Augustus, and Jordan Lanerie, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and Ivy Lanerie; one granddaughter, Kentaysia Wilridge; one great-granddaughter, Jadayah Wilridge; two sisters, Jeanne Clark and Lisa Ann Bourque; and one brother, Dennis Lanerie.

Wayne was a native of Lafayette, longtime resident of Mena, AR, and lived in Cankton for the last year. He was employed as a machinist in the oil and gas industry.

Special thanks are given to Hospice of Acadiana, Amy Carpenter, and Tonya Kramer.

Pallbearers for the service will be Kentrelle Wilridge, Justin Lanerie Jr., Kendarious Wilridge, and Jordan Lanerie.
