William "Billy" Fowler

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for William C. “Billy” Fowler, who died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at his residence. Reverend Kenneth Domingue, pastor of St. Leo the Great Church in Leonville, will celebrate the mass and conduct the funeral service. Readers will be Cindi Babineaux and Steve Mouton; Eulogist will be his godchild Kim Pruitt. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Debbie Mouton Fowler of Carencro; his son, Shawn Fowler of Carencro; his mother, Thelma Z. Fowler of Lafayette; two sisters, Cheryl Ducote (Dan) of Lafayette and Shelley LeBlanc (Karl) of Kingwood, TX; four godchildren, Nick Rabalais of Lafayette, Kim Pruitt of Kingwood, TX, Ryan Mouton of Carencro, and Jessica Roger of Youngsville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Fowler; maternal grandparents, Claude and Yolanda Zimmerman; paternal grandmother, Leola Fowler; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Alcee Mouton, Jr.
Billy was a resident of Carencro. He graduated from Cathedral Carmel in 1973, and went on to graduate from Nicholls State University, where he played basketball. He followed in his dad’s footsteps at Bill’s Millwork, and retired after 38 years of service. He loved playing basketball, listening to country music, drag racing, watching sports and Duck Dynasty. He enjoyed keeping his truck clean as well.
The family requests that visitation be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 1:00 – 9:00 pm, and resume Friday morning at 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be led by Reverend Domingue Thursday evening at 7:00 pm.
