George Olan Broussard, Sr.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens for George Olan Broussard, Sr., 93, who passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021.  Rev. Pat Sullivan will officiate the service.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nettie Irwin Broussard of Lafayette;  one daughter, Laura Broussard Guidry of Lafayette;  one son, George Olan Broussard, Jr. and his wife Debra “Richter” Broussard of Lafayette;  six grandchildren, Katherine Broussard LeBlanc and her husband Jason of Lafayette,  Thomas Guidry III and his wife Jennifer of Ft. Worth, TX,  Christopher George Broussard of Lafayette,  David Guidry of Lewisville, TX,  Jaclyn Ledet of Sunset, LA;  and Kevin Guidry of Dallas, TX;  and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor LeBlanc, Arcadia Guidry, Lachlan Guidry, Savage Broussard, Zoey Ledet, Harley Ledet, and Ivy Ledet.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Broussard;  one great-granddaughter, Aylee LeBlanc;  and one brother, Harold Broussard.

George is a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II on the U.S.S. Rutledge.  He was employed by E.P. Breaux Electrical in New Iberia, Louisiana until his retirement in 1992.  He was also a member of the Cajun Prairie Preservation Society.

In his free time he enjoyed bird watching, hunting (at YAP and down river at Bayou La Rompe Hunting Club), and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Thomas Guidry III, Christopher Broussard, David Guidry, Kevin Guidry, Jason LeBlanc, and Thomas “Bo” Sullivan.  Honorary pallbearer is CL Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name directly to The Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society, or Aylee's Angels.
