Obituary

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. for JD Johnson, 74, who passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.  The celebration will be at 103 Nevada Drive in Lafayette, LA.

JD is survived by four daughters, Sandy Kilgore and her husband Glenn of Youngsville, LA,  Jill Clark of Loganville, GA,  Jannah Shepard and her husband Fabian of Lenexa, KS,  and Jacelyn Johnson of Loganville, GA;  three sons, Jack Johnson and his wife Stacy of Mobile, AL,  Randy Lanclos of Youngsville, LA,  and Russell Lanclos and his wife Amanda of Lafayette, LA;  one sister, Betty Clavelle of Carencro, LA;  one brother, Randall Johnson and his wife Janice of Lafayette, LA;  17 grandchildren:  Brandon and his wife Jenaye, Joshua, Katie and her husband Justin, Janci, Sarrah, Seth, Kirsten, Dalton, Sydney, Caleb, Logan, Shelby, Jaxon, Collin, Emma, Ryen, and Aryn;  three great-grandchildren, Sullivan, Eden, and Sutton;  one brother-in-law, Steven MacDiarmid;  one sister-in-law, Jewell LeBlanc;  and two godchildren, Candace Johnson and Phyllis Estilette.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joy G. Johnson;  his parents, Hazel and Lloyd Johnson;  three great-grandchildren;  two brothers-in-law, Wilson Clavelle and Jimmie LeBlanc;  one sister-in-law, Charlotte G. MacDiarmid;  and one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Lanclos.

JD was a Veteran of the United States Army, and served in Vietnam.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. 

JD was a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years.  He worked alongside Clark Aguiilard for over 30 years.  In his free time he enjoyed gardening, carpentry (it was his passion), Cajun music (especially KBON), and spending time with his family.
