Joy Johnson

August 7, 1948 — March 6, 2021

Joy G. Johnson, 72, passed away peacefully at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
There will be a celebration of Joy’s life on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at JD and Joy’s house in Lafayette Louisiana.
Joy was born in Lafayette, La.  She enjoyed her life to the fullest.
Shopping for purses, bright lipstick, and jewelry were her passions. She was a bargain shopper like nobody else.  Anything shiny, sparkly, or glitzy she would have to buy.  Joy was a long-time employee of Abdalla’s Department store downtown, and was currently a nanny.  Also, "Mee Maw" was a nanny for a few special families during the last 25 years.  She loved each and everyone one of these sweet children.
Joy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She will definitely be missed by everyone who knew her.  Joy was the epitome of the phrase "Joi de Vivre".
She leaves behind her devoted husband JD Johnson of 33 years; her loving twin sister Jewell Ann LeBlanc; she was the best mother to her children Sandy Kilgore and her husband Glenn, Randy Lanclos and his late wife Jeanne, Jill Johnson Clark, Jack Johnson and wife Stacey, Russell Lanclos and wife Mandy, Jannah Shephard and husband Fabian, and Jacelyn Johnson; 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Vivian Guidry; her brothers Harold "Poochie" Guidry and Larry Gene Guidry; and her sister Charlotte Guidry MacDiarmid.
