Melvin Kling

December 13, 1942 — October 21, 2018

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Genevieve Catholic Church on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. for Melvin E. Kling, 75, who passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018.  Father Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony.  Lectors are Kortney Kling, Kasey Kling, Tanner Peltier, and Kenzie Kling.  Gift Bearers will be his grandchildren.  Inurnment will take place immediately following services at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at St. Genevieve Catholic Church on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m.

To all my relatives, I will miss you dearly.  God has been extremely good to me during my lifetime for which I thank Him very much.  You all know my life story, so I won’t bore you with two or three pages of things that is of no interest to most people.  It has been a wonderful life and I leave behind a beautiful family:  My wife, Norma Lou Roger Kling of Lafayette;  my daughter, Tracy M. Peltier (Chad);  my four sons, Ty E. Kling (Sherry), Tad J. Kling (Sandra), Troy P. Kling (Angie), and Trevor J. Kling (Blair);  one sister, Sylvia K. Girouard;  13 grandchildren, Jerek A. Edora, Kortney Kling, Kade Kling, Colby Duhon (Kat), Hunter Kling, Logan Peltier, Tanner Peltier, Hayden Peltier, Kasey K. Badeaux (Bryce), Kenzie Kling, Kolton Kling, Kennedy Kling, and Cooper Kling;  and five great-grandchildren, Andrew Duhon, Kate Duhon, Addison Badeaux, Beckham Badeaux, and Baylor Badeaux.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Melvin A. Kling;  both his paternal and maternal grandparents;  and his Godchild, Timothy Girouard.

A lifelong resident of Lafayette, Melvin was employed in the Aviation industry.  He was a member of the United States Navy, where he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Donations can be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Research Center ( www.stjude.org ), Wounded Warrior Project ( www.woundedwarriorproject.org ) , and the National Rifle Association ( www.nra.org ).
