Phyllis Goff

December 16, 1934 — August 7, 2021

Phyllis Marie Moss Goff passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.  Ms. Goff was the daughter of James Joseph Moss, Sr. and Marie Elizadie Broussard Moss, of Lafayette.
Phyllis’ cherished memories are left to daughter, Christa Paterson and her fiancé, Michael Daniels, of Kuna, Idaho; her sons, Robert “Bob” Paterson of Lafayette, LA and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Maier, and James “Jim” Paterson and his wife Shannon of Southwick, MA; one grandson, Michael C. Braun and his wife Brenda of Lakewood, CO; and her sister, Marcella M. Baliles, of Lafayette, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Doris M. Hartup, Carita M. Kimbrough, and Letitia M. Distefano; and her brothers, Russell P. Moss, James J. Moss, Jr., Robert E. Moss, and John L. Moss.
Phyllis graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Lafayette, LA.  Although she moved away when she married, Phyllis returned to her hometown of Lafayette a number of years later. She worked at the Alexandre Mouton House (Lafayette Museum), the home of her great-great-uncle, for over 18 years, where she welcomed visitors from all over the world and shared with them the history of Lafayette.  The luckiest visitors also left the museum with Mardi Gras beads, regardless of the season.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alexander Mouton House at 1122 Lafayette Street, Lafayette, LA 70501 (www.lafayettemuseum.com); or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
