Richard Aucoin, Sr.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens for Richard Aucoin, Sr., 72, who passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 surrounded by his family.  Pastor Brandon Miller, of Family Life Church, will officiate the ceremony.  Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard Aucoin, Jr. (Dashawn);  three sisters, Shirley Boutte (Gerald), Mary Myers (Raphael, Sr.), and Lelia Stelly (William “T-Bill);  five brothers, John Aucoin (Nancy), Darral Aucoin (Gail), Robert Aucoin, Sr. (Chastity), Kenneth Aucoin (Danny), and Louis Boutin Williams (Kendrick);  several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.

He was preceded in death by one son, Travis Aucoin;  his parents, Louise Cloteaux and Clarence Aucoin, Sr.;  three sisters, Marie Aucoin, Linda Picard, and Karen Prejean;  two brothers, Clarence Aucoin, Jr. and Mark Boutin;  his maternal grandparents, Lelia Abshire Cloteaux and Leo Paul Cloteaux;  and his paternal grandparents, Eula Aucoin and Joseph Aucoin.

Richard was the owner of Aucoin’s Janitorial Service in New Orleans for many years.  He was also previously employed as a limousine driver, a school bus driver, a city police officer, and once worked at Borden’s.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, making pralines for the kids on his school bus, gambling, horse racing, and spending time on his property.  Richard read his Bible daily, and loved his family very much.
