Thelma D. Hebert

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Thelma D. Hebert, 80, who passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021.   Father David Hebert, Pastor at St Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony.

Interment will be immediately following the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation hours will be observed on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and will resume on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m.  A rosary will be prayed on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen H. Sonnier of Lafayette;  two sons, Gerald Hebert and his wife Kim of Scott, and Dean Hebert and his wife Donna of Scott;  one sister, Marion D. Naquin of Breaux Bridge;  four grandchildren, Christina Sonnier Smith and her husband Eric of Houston, Mekail McDonald and her husband Lane of Duson, Seth Sonnier of Lafayette, and Drake Hebert of Youngsville;  three great-grandchildren, Levi McDonald, Ozzie McDonald, and Wesley Smith;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Curley J. Hebert;  her parents, Leonard and Yola Cormier Dugas;  three sisters, Anna Lee D. Roger, Rose D. Thibodeaux, and Irene D. Leger;  and two brothers, John Melvin Dugas and Joseph Albert Dugas.

Thelma was a part of Hebert’s Automotive for 40 years.  First as an owner with her husband Curley for 20 years, then as bookkeeper for the business.   In her free time she enjoyed gardening and day lilies.  She liked to cook, and would often share her food with others.  Thelma also loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Shane Granger, Drake Hebert, Lane McDonald, Dale Roger, Eric Smith, and Seth Sonnier.
