Veronica Batiste

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, 11:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church for Veronica M. Batiste, 66, who passed away August 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Father Edward Duhon, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace, will conduct the funeral services. Kimberly Roy, Jessica Irvin,  and Tara Batiste will be the lectors; Janyiah Mouton and Aaliyah Mouton will be the gift bearers. Teka Brisco will perform musical selections.
Survivors include two daughters, Nakia Batiste (Sammy) Francis of Lafayette and  Robin Batiste of Carencro; her extended children, Timothy Francis (Charlotte), Dina Sias, Jessica Irvin, and Lacreshia Papillion; four sisters, Brenda Cormier of Lafayette, Mary Chaisson of Scott, Mathilda (Francisco) Martin of Carencro and Debbie (Rodney) Benjamin, who was also a goddaughter of hers; two brothers, Oran Narcisse Jr. of Sunset and Jude Narcisse of Houston; and five grandchildren, Janyiah Mouton, Aaliyah Mouton, Amyrie Martin, Jaslynn Woods, and Jesse Woods Jr.; and eight godchildren, Brandon Shelvin, Porcha Shelvin, Quinton Benjamin, Courtney Narcisse, Kiya Narcisse, Blake Benjamin, Bria Noel, and her baby sister, Debbie Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Batiste, and her parents, the former Rita Mae Shelvin and Oran Narcisse, Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Elizabeth Shelvin and Edward Himel; her paternal grandparents, Mary T. and Vallage Narcisse; and her in-laws, Verna Mae and Preston Batiste.
Veronica lived in the North Lafayette/Carencro area for her entire life. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Ladies Auxillary. She worked for Dr. Mark F. Ellis as his office manager for 22 years.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Francis, Timothy Francis, Oran Narcisse, Jr., Brandt Cormier, Courtney Narcisse, and Brian Keith Carmouche. Honorary pallbearers include Jude Narcisse, Terry Batiste, Brandon Shelvin, Blake Benjamin, Rodney Benjamin, Dr. Mark F. Ellis, Michael Chaisson, and Christopher Chaisson.
The family requests that visitation be held Friday, August 28, 2021 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm; and resume at 8:00 am Saturday morning until time of service. A rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 7:00 pm.
